the only man to ride every red bull rampage. and he's not done yet.
Kyle Strait has been a defining figure in freeride mountain biking for the better part of a quarter century. Born in 1987 and raised on the bikes and dirt of San Diego's East County, he started racing on the Monterey peninsula at 12, and by 14 he was lining up at the very first Red Bull Rampage in 2001.
Three years later, at 17, he became the youngest rider ever to win Rampage with a run that included a step-down suicide no-hander larger than anything previously ridden or filmed. He won the contest again in 2013, and to this day remains the only rider to have competed in every edition of the event.
Beyond Rampage, Kyle has built a career across nearly every freeride discipline that exists. He has Crankworx podiums in slopestyle, dual slalom, and Dual Speed & Style, including a win at Crankworx Whistler Dual Slalom and a Dual Speed & Style victory in Les Gets. He has raced downhill and dropped into Red Bull Hardline. He is the namesake of the Sensus Meaty Paw, a 35mm signature grip he helped develop and still rides today.
In 2016, Kyle and his wife Rachel, a former junior national cross-country champion, founded Strait Acres on their property in Alpine. What started as a private compound has grown into one of the most respected dirt jump and dual slalom facilities in the sport and now hosts the Strait Acres Slalom Invitational. After a serious crash at Rampage 2022 that left him with three broken vertebrae, Kyle rebuilt, returned to riding, and in 2025 stepped back from competing at Rampage to mentor the next generation of riders carrying the event forward.
